I shot this for Cinco de Mayo, but forgot to post it here because I had to get orthodontic surgery. It was a hit on the facebook page tho.
This shot took me around 90 tries to get the dress movement just right.
Hey, thanks for being awesome, Tumblr community!
Truth is, I collect self portraits. You’ll often find me searching/tracking the Tumblr community for pictures people take of themselves. Sometimes they’re drawings, sometimes they’re photographs, but they’re always inspiring to some degree — otherwise I wouldn’t favorite them ;)
So congrats on being awesome and thanks for making this artist feel at home.
It’s not that I can’t do abstract, dreamy self-portraits — it’s that I don’t want to. The online world is full of them and artists who do them well.
I personally find them difficult to relate to. Hence, I stick with identities and characters who have personalities because, to me, they feel human.
Some unseen and unused shots from this character’s set. Sometimes I try different lighting, sometimes I try different variations of outfits. I always shoot until I get the shot that I feel conveys the character.
Being sexy is so easy. Try being someone else for a change.
Hello, new followers and art lovers!
Excuse the lack of updates, I’m busy working on the Universe of One book, which requires me to transform into 45+ people. I have 13 people left to do, so I’m very close to my goal!
The project has gotten some fantastic press and I even have an interview with Tumblr, Inc. coming out shortly.
As you know, I’m also working on the Disney Divas series concurrently, but once that is done, I need a new series.
Got any suggestions? Feel free to message them to me. What or who would you like to see me transform into?
Thanks for following!
Cheyne

One of the things I’ve been working on was exclusive photos of me as Tumblr CEO David Karp to run with an interview. It was an exhaustive photo session and the final transformation is mind-blowing. I can’t wait to show you the photos when the article launches. For now, please enjoy this GIF showing my process of using makeup to turn myself into Tumblr’s daddy :)
Stepping out from behind the curtain to remind you that — look, I’m a brown asian.
I love how people are so quick to reblog my photos crying racial outrage and how a I’m a “MOC contributing to white supremacy”. What strikes me as odd is that these same people are not supporting the fact that a “man of color” is making art that blurs the lines between races. Personally, I feel that things are only as powerful as you make them out to be. So if you perceive the word “nerf-herder” as offensive, then it will be. If history has taught us anything, it is that things progress and change. Maybe not entirely, but things change.
I think instead of focusing on negative things, you should celebrate the things you love — and celebrate doesn’t mean bashing things you don’t agree with.
Celebrate the things you love.
