One of the first self portrait series I did was the PIXAR project. It was a tribute to the genius of PIXAR and was inspired by characters in their films. As per my style, all of the costumes and props (and even the sets) were made using paper and other unconventional materials.

Disney Divas

A series inspired by Disney Villains.

Disney Diva #003
This will be the last portrait for the Disney Divas series. I’m ready to move onto other new series. I may revisit this series in the future because it has a lot of unexplored potential.

Butoh My God I’m Obsessed with the Mess that’s America.
I’ve taken a lot of self portraits but this one has garnered me the most likes. Was it because it was the most striking thing they’ve seen all day? Was it because it was beautiful in a creepy way? Was it because everyone just loves mouse ear hats? Either way, I was pleasantly surprised.
Most labeled this photo as creepy, but there are so many symbolic things in this image. There are themes about America and American culture, which clashes with the Chinese and Asian culture I also embedded in this image. Themes of innocence and sensuality are also present. I guess this has been a successful image because you can keep going back to it and analyzing it to your heart’s content.
